Glenn Zaleski’s new album, Star Dreams, released on August 23, 2024, via Sunnyside Records, showcases the pianist’s masterful blend of tradition and innovation in the classic Jazz piano trio format. Bassist Dezron Douglas and drummer Willie Jones III join Zaleski for a lively set recorded in October 2023 at Acoustic Studios in Brooklyn. The album features a mix of Jazz standards, original compositions, and a fresh instrumental take on Cécile McLorin Salvant’s Monday. Highlights include Horace Silver’s bluesy Opus De Funk and the dreamy title track, Star Dreams. The trio’s chemistry is evident in their intricate interplay and rhythmic energy. Zaleski’s tribute to Wayne Shorter and the graceful closing ballad, Jimmy McHugh’s I’m In The Mood for Love, round out this contemporary Jazz offering that both honors tradition and ventures into new creative territory.
